Loïc Houpert

I am a cloud engineer at Development Seed. I build data pipelines and contribute to open-source tools that make Earth observation data more accessible, so it can be used for environmental monitoring, climate research and open science. I am a strong believer in open source and open data, and I like sharing what I learn through talks, workshops and this blog.

Before that, I spent about ten years as a physical oceanographer, working with gliders and moorings in the Mediterranean and the subpolar North Atlantic, and publishing open datasets for other scientists. In between, I learnt the software side at OSE Engineering and at the UK Department for Work and Pensions.
